    1. There are tons of free online chalkboard font downloads, here's a good one to check out http://www.the36thavenue.com/chalkboard-fonts/. Sometimes I copy and paste the font I want to use from a word document, but it doesn't always show up the best in the blogger platform. For the above, I actually created an image and just inserted it.

    1. That sounds fun, what an experience for your students. To make the butterfly paintings we first started out by talking about symmetry. We then drew the butterfly bodies together, but I did not have them create the wing designs yet. I gave them handouts of butterfly wings that they used to design the wings on their own..they just had to make sure the wings were symmetrical. We did a simple crayon wax resist with the watercolor. I used liquid watercolor and had students pick 2 to 3 colors (using the color wheel) they thought would mix well together. I always had to help them with salt, so I walk around with the salt and a spray bottle of water. I let the students sprinkle the salt and I spray overtop with the water. This works really well for those students whose work dries before you get to it! I hope this is helpful!

  8. I don't know how I didn't realize it before, but you're from Nebraska. I'm from Nebraska! Omaha, went to Westside District 66! That was more of a side note...First I should have said, YOUR BLOG IS MY FAVE. Like legit, its the only one I have bookmarked besides NAEA. Tie dye is my favorite color! I have tie dye everything. Sheets, socks, yoga pants (my fave), and anything white is of potential for tie dye. I'm going through student teaching now to receive my masters of teaching in art education in georgia as my last semester. I'm placed in a middle school and its my first experience. I'm going to teach them the grid method because it's how I draw and learned how to the best, and your post on it made me feel really relieved! Keep posting please :)

P.S. not to be super awkardly weird saying this, but I wish we were friends. In a way like how I also want to be friends with Amy Schumer and Snoop Dogg.
